I have purchased a 1972 Bavaria.

It seemed to be real find, the story goes a lil like this:
95k original miles, functioning sunroof (no leaks),
the interior is beautiful two tears in drvrs seat, no headrests and one fingernail crack in the dash. the clock ceased functioning a few decades ago, a dime of rust (seriously),a little stammer in the carbs, all in all seemed pretty solid.

I was told "she leaves a drop or two in the driveway after long drives".

I purchased the vehicle from a Gentelman in California, seemed to be a square chap. he picked me up with his kids in the car, we drove around town, and hit the hiway. all the while keeping my senses keen for vibrations, shudders, sticky responsiveness, noises, etc..
i drove it everywhere.. runs like a champ.

sure, its a BMW, they're great.
lets get it.

... and then it begins...

i stop for gas after purchasing the vehicle, and on my way back to the pump i get one of those "something IS close to burning" scents wafting out from under the hood.
"Odd" i think to myself.. "maybe its another car.."
i try to entertain the thought that i may be wrong.
It takes more than 15 minutes before the button on the door finally opens so i am able to OPEN the hood. He didnt have that much trouble with it.. so, I chalk it up to not being familiar with the car, and proceed to sniff my way around the engine compartment.
I find a slow drip under the car grazing the exhaust sending that scent to the air.

"ok.." i think to myself. "time to check oil".
Hello Mr. Dipstick, what do you have to tell me?
NADA
ZERO
ZIP
The oil isnt even registering on the dip stick.
add a QUART, check again..
wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy empty!
add another QUART, check again..
a lil over halfway on zee Dee-pstick!

I check under the car to see the drip has matured.

The "four-lettered word" combinations sound like german
swirling around my brain..

ACHTUNG!
and that was only day one...

day two: lights in dash intermittent, and noticing shift gate issues.

day three: stammer in carbs gets worse..

day four: idle is now at a WHOPPING 2200rpms with carb stammer affecting acceleration (limited drivability.. )

day five: popping out of "drive" around corners..

day six: guages shifted overnight in bezel (WTF?)

day seven: brake pedal "pulsing" feedback

Its been a week and my "new" car is hardly driven.

The oil is pouring out the main seal.
I have to add oil to drive (7 QUARTS a WEEK about ONE a DAY)
I have a pan i put under her when i park.
OH yeah, and White smoke pouring out the valve cover!
I found a spot on the hood that looks like there was a engine fire
that got covered up.
I cant find a engine number on the block.
No, im not a moron. i know where the numbers are located.
its just NOT THERE.

I am MORE than MAD.

My last contact with the previous owner he said he already did the DMV paperwork and to check the "oil return" line.. cuz thats whats leaking..

Yeah and i got opposable toes!
...

So, do i strangle him with my feet? or fix the BAV?

CHEERS!
